Dalcha - Muslim style Brinjal curry for biriyani.

Delicious hyderabadi recipe made with vegetables . this is good to serve along with biryani and chapatis.

List of ingredients:
1/2 cupchana dal
1largesliced onion
3greensliced chillies
1longbrinjal
2slicedtomatoes
1tbspchopped mint leaves
2tbspcoriander leaves to garnish
1/2tspturmeric
2tspred chilly powder
1/2tspdhania powder
1tspgaram masala powder
8boneschicken (neck, wings)
1(or)8bonesof mutton(ribs or leg)
2cloves
1inchcinnamon
1cardamom
1tspginger garlic paste
1salt to taste
4tbspoil
1juiceof lemon sized tamarind

Cooking procedure:
Cook chana dal and mash it with little water. heat oil in a dish and add cloves, cardamom and cinnamon. fry and add onions and green chillies. fry till golden brown. add turmeric and ginger garlic paste. fry for 1min and add sliced brinjal, tomatoes.stirr, add salt and cook covered on low flame till water evaporates and the veges become soft. now add red chilly powder, dhania powder and fry on high heat. add mashed dal and cook till dal gives out bubbles. to this add tamarind juice, 3 cups of water and bring it to boil. once it starts boiling, reduce the flame and boil it for another 15-20min. garnish with garam masala, coriander, boil for 1min and remove from heat.
This dish tastes best when you serve it after 6hrs of preparation. goes good with fried rice, biryani, chapathi and plain rice.
